Faith, Promises & Coronavirus

During this time of coronavirus, which has caused a global crisis, believers in Yeshua (Jesus) have much to gain from meditating on G-d’s word and spending some time in prayer. These events were written a millennia ago. The prophecies in the Bible tell us these things would happen at the end of the church age close to Yeshua’s (Jesus) return. However, the theme of this post is not Bible prophecy, but G-d’s protection over those who trust Him.

Psalm 91 is the second most popular psalm thanks to its powerful description of G-d’s supernatural protection. However, Psalm 91 never says it is a promise for a everyone but for those believers who “dwell in the Most High” and who “hide in the secret place”.

If we read Psalm 91 in Hebrew and in context, we don’t see universal language used like we do in other passages such as,

Acts 14:2 – Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of G-d.

John 16:33 – In this life you shall have tribulation – Yeshua (Jesus).

Bible heroes like David and Paul had clear guidance and help from G-d through their many trials and sufferings. He was with them in everything.

Psalm 91 tell us about the “hiding place”. It is not a defined physical secret place. It also is not a place where we are praying alone. The meaning of “secret” is a private relationship with Hashem (G-d). The “secret place” is talking about been positioned in a certain way as to be hidden with G-d and to be connected with Him 24 hours a day.

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty”.

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

 Surely he will save you
    from the fowler’s snare
    and from the deadly pestilence.

If we are connected to Him, nothing can touch us. He is more than a shelter! The promise includes coverage from spiritual and physical attacks, according to the Hebrew text. The Hebrew text leads us to believe the promise of protection is spiritual but also physical. Regardless of all the terrible things happening around us, there is no reason for fear.

If we live in a position of confidence in G-d and live our life separate for Him then we build our foundation. That is our underlying basis for everything we do and believe.

Let’s not judge any of Yeshua’s (Jesus) disciples who may be sick or suffering. All we need to do is to hold to these promises. We don’t want to base our faith on our hardships but in what is written and promised. Don’t look at Him through your struggles, instead look at your struggles through Him and His faithfulness. He is our refuge!!

  1. Uma benção o seu canal.
Sou a “sarada e curada” porque fui livrada da morte devido a uma enfermidade, o Senhor me curou e me sarou a alma.

    1. Oi Jana! entao vc é a sarada! Abs Shalom
